As Christians we need to know that there is a devil and that he wants to destroy us. It is our need to know ways in which he tries to take advantage of us. In 2 Corinthians 2, the Corinthian church has disciplined a member of their church. Thankfully this disciplined member has come to repentance and returned to the church. Paul now tells them to make sure he knows that they love him. Why? Because Satan will take every advantage he can. We look at three main ways that Satan tries to take advantage of Christians. He tries to distract us. He wants us to be distracted by anything, as long as it is not what God wants us to focus on. He wants to drive us to extremes. He will try to push some to legalism, but others he will try to push to believe that they can live in sin and still be right with God. He will also switch tactics on us once we overcome a tactic he was using against us. The devil wants to lead us into sin. He wants to make us miserable. He also wants to make us look foolish so others think that Christianity shouldn’t be taken seriously. We need the Word of God to teach us truth and about the strategies of the devil.
