Bible Survey: 1 Samuel (Part 1)

The book of 1 Samuel covers about 100 years of history, from around 1110 B.C. to 1010 B.C. It speaks of Israel’s transition from being led by judges to being led by a king. The three main people in 1 Samuel are David, Saul, and Samuel. Most likely around the time of the birth of Samuel is when Boaz and Ruth married and then had Obed, David’s grandfather. Even in the darkest times God is working. Who was Samuel? What can we learn from Eli’s unfortunate decision not to rebuke his children? How did Israel misplace their trust? God, as we will see in 1 Samuel, is never mocked.
