Bible Survey: 1 Samuel (Part 2)

DoubleBranchFWBChurch 1 Samuel, Bible Survey, Old Testament, Topic college, David, eduction, heart, pastor, personality, qualifications, Samuel, Saul, seminary

1 Samuel is about the transition of Israel from being led by judges to being led by kings. Samuel was the last of the judges, and is remembered in one way by being a man of prayer. Saul is the first king of Israel but because of his sin God took away the kingship from him to bring David to the throne. God looks at the heart. David was the youngest of his family and yet God choose him to be king. Though natural giftings can be important, we should not simply look at natural leadership abilities or how well one leads in his place of work. We must judge a man by biblical principles. Seeking a Pastor should be done in this way. Some churches are looking for a certain personality or a certain level of formal Bible college or seminary education as a requirement for pastoral candidates, but we must go by the qualifications that the Bible gives us.
