The book of 1 Chronicles was originally one book with 2 Chronicles. The two books cover from the beginning of the human race with Adam, to Cyrus in 538 B.C. Tradition says that Ezra was the author, but the Bible does not tell us who authored 1 and 2 Chronicles. Some of the themes of 1 Chronicles are king David, the Davidic Covenant, and the temple. Because we have covered a number of events found in 1 Chronicles already in other books, the way we will cover 1 Chronicles will be different than the normal way we have looked at most other books. Two truths found in the book are covered, the first being that God is in control, and the second that God’s hand, or blessing, must be on us. We will also briefly look at the genealogies.
