Don’t Love Wealth (Matthew 6:19-24)

DoubleBranchFWBChurch Matthew, New Testament, Sermon on the Mount, Topic children, heart, heaven, money

The Bible warns over and over about wealth. And even though that is true, the Bible also teaches that it is not sinful to be wealthy. Do we love money or do we love to help others with the money God has blessed us with? Jesus wants the best for us, and that is one reason He says not to lay up treasure on earth. Why? Because treasure on earth can be destroyed or lost, and we cannot take it with us when we die. We came into this world with nothing and we must leave the same. But Jesus tells us to lay up treasure in heaven where it cannot be destroyed or stolen. Our “heart” is the big question, and we can know where our heart is by looking at where our treasure is. You cannot have your heart on earth and in heaven at the same time. You cannot serve both God and money. You must decide. Four questions to help evaluate your heart are: Where is your money spent? Where is your time given? Where does your enjoyment come from? What do you desire for your children?
