What to Expect

  • Our parking lot and main entrance is located in the back of the building. As you come into the main doors you will walk into a large foyer area. On a large round table will be bulletins for Sunday mornings and other resources. To your right will be the entrance into the main auditorium where we meet to worship. Straight ahead is the entrance into our social hall where we have meals together. Down the hallway on the left is where restrooms and classrooms are. As you continue down this same hallway, it will turn right, and this is where more classrooms and the nursery will be.

  • Sunday School  Our Sunday School begins at 10:00 am and has classes for all ages, including adults. It’s a good opportunity to learn more about God’s Word and fellowship with others in a small setting. Though we have classes for all ages, parents are always welcome to have their children with them when in their adult classes.

Sunday Morning Our Sunday morning service begins at 11:00 am and is the main meeting of the church. The reading of Scripture, prayer, singing to the Lord and to one another, and preaching and teaching from God’s Word, are things you can expect to experience. A nursery is provided for ages four and below.

Sunday Night  Our Sunday night service begins at 5:30 pm. This service, as all services, is an important meeting of the church. Come expecting to sing to the Lord and one another, and hear a message from God’s Word. Questions and comments are welcome. Though Sunday night service varies, we have a special focus at times on prayer, what we are doing to serve the Lord in our lives, practical issues, and the business of the church. Also, on Sunday nights, we have children’s classes or children’s church up to third grade while the main service is going on. Parents are welcome always to bring their children to service with them, but this is an option for parents.

Wednesday Night  Our Wednesday night service begins at 6:30 pm and can have classes for all ages, currently up to teenagers. Everyone else meets for teaching in the auditorium. You can expect singing, prayer, and teaching from God’s Word. Questions and comments are welcome.

Women Active for Christ  Women Active for Christ (WAC) meets the second Monday of the month at 6:00 pm. Women from the church fellowship, eat together, and discuss various projects, ministries, and the business of WAC.

Sunday Night Fellowships  Normally after the last Sunday night service of the month we have a finger foods fellowship in the social hall. All are invited to stay and fellowship. This is a great opportunity to speak about the things of the Lord and get to know each other better.

  • Double Branch loves children! Though parents are suppose to be the main teachers of God’s Word to their children, the church is also to help them carry this out. One way we do this is by having classes for children. Classes are on Sunday mornings at 10:00 am in our Sunday School, 5:30 pm on Sunday nights for children up to third grade while the main Sunday night service is going on, and 6:30 pm on Wednesday nights. We also have times especially for youth when we meet for games and fellowship. We are excited, too, about our new playground.

Though children are welcome to remain in services with their parents, a nursery can be available for every service. When you bring your child to nursery you can fill out a one page information sheet including allergies your child may have, who may pick up your child from nursery, and a contact number that we can text or call you at while you’re in service if a need arises.

We love children and want to minister to them. However, we do not have children’s church on Sunday mornings. Though our church offers separate classes for children throughout the week, the church also needs to have times where the church tries to meet together as a whole. It is similar to an individual family. It can be good for husband and wife to spend time together away from their children, but they certainly need to spend time as a whole family, too. Likewise, local churches need times where the whole church can meet together. With that said, we want to be accommodating and to assist you if you have a need. Parents and guardians can face difficult challenges and need help, as all of us do at times. If you would like child care for children that are older than nursery age please ask us.

  • At Double Branch, we want to be accommodating to those with special needs. If we can help, please don’t hesitate to ask.

  • Some will have on coats and ties, and others will have on blue jeans. Though modesty is important, we shouldn’t overly think about clothing. Come and worship with us.

  • The Bible as God’s Word  God has spoken to us through His Word. His Word is as needed today as ever. It is from His perfect Word that we learn who God is and what He has done.

The Greatness of God  God alone is glorious and His majesty is more than mortal man can take. The weightiness of God and His greatness should be realities that not only the Christian believes and speaks of, but that is felt. God the Father and God the Son deserve our worship, adoration, and praise.

The Sinfulness of Man  The Bible declares that lost man is both sinful and not good, and in need of the grace of God. Lost man proves his wickedness by refusing to believe, worship, and obey the teachings of God’s Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Only God’s grace and the power of the Holy Spirit can save man.

The Gift of Salvation Though man has sinned against God, God so loved the world that He sent Jesus to die for our sins, even when we were His enemies, so we could be brought back to God. Through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, God offers the gift of salvation to all who repent (turn from their sins) and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. Righteousness is given to us through faith.

Holiness of Life  Though salvation is a free gift, that does not mean we can live in sin and still have peace with God. Christians must live holy lives or they will not see God (Hebrews 12:14). God has given us everything we need to live godly in this wicked world.

Assurance of Salvation  The Bible teaches that we can know we are saved. We should not first look at our past life for assurance, but at what we believe and how we are living now.

The Church Christians are to hold up the local church above all other human institutions. The church is where Christians grow more like Jesus, fellowship with each other, use their spiritual gifts, and are held accountable.

Missions  Christians should be evangelizing in their everyday life, but we must also seek to spread the gospel beyond our area. Though not every Christian has the opportunity or calling to be a missionary to a different area, the church is to help those who do by supporting missionaries financially and by prayer.

The Family The family is so important to God. He gives clear directions in His Word to fathers, mothers, and children. God wants us to have strong families that follow His teachings.
